MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

Tuesday, December 18, 2007

Merry Christmas from Our Family to Yours

What Shall We Give the Children?

What Shall We Give the Children?
The holidays are almost here.
Toys and games and playthings,
As we do every year?

Yes, for the magic of toy land
Is part of the holiday lore
To gladded the heart of childhood
But I shall give more.

I shall give them more patience,
A more sympathetic ear,
A little more time for laughter,
Or to tenderly dry a tear.

I shall take time to teach them
The joy of doing some task.
I’ll try to find time to answer
More of the questions they ask.

Time to read books together
And take long walks in the sun.
Time for a bedtime story
After the day is done.

I shall give these to my children,
Weaving a closer tie,
Knitting our lives together
With the gifts that money can’t buy.

December Birthdays?

Leigh, do you know who has a Dec. birthday? (Other than) My Mike's 33rd birthday is tomorrow. Mom and Dad are having the kids sleep over; unfortunately, we have to go to his company holiday party. Have a great weekend everyone!

Happy December!

I hope everyone is doing well. So glad to hear from Bridget! Good luck with the thesis. I can't even get myself to sit down and write out the bills, much less a very detailed paper!
I added pics of Keith with his 8-point buck (18 inch spread, eh Mike J.!!). Mike posted the pics of Keith and Sami in her hunting garb on the Channel 7 sports news last night. It was very cute! What a guy!
All is going well with us. Just getting ready for Santa Claus, who, by the way, stopped at our house last night! See, it pays to be nice all year-round! :)
Take care all!
Love,
Allie

Alright, already, I'll blog

Hey everybody!

Well this should hopefully make Katie's day. She has been a dedicated blogger for a few years now, and she has been bugging me endlessly to start one myself or contribute to this one. This is probably the worst time for me to start writing, since I still need to actually write my thesis before I really finish the PhD, and this will be one more way to procrastinate!

Things are going well in Madison. Maren just turned 18 months (which means Steve is 31 and a half - Steve and Maren have the same birthday). Maren is a really fun kid - she's running around all over the place and her favorite word right now is "purple". She doesn't quite have the meaning down, since she'll tell you everything is purple, but she says it really well.

I'm a little worried that it was mentioned a few times in here that Mike may still be working on selling his house in Madison. We'll be starting that whole process soon and I'm trying to be optimistic that it won't take too long to sell!

Anyway, I should really get to work - I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and is further along with Christmas shopping than I am!

Recommendations?

Have any of you stayed with your families at one of the Wisconsin Dells waterpark resorts? Which do you prefer? We are planning a trip with two other couples and all of our kids, ages 6 months-5 years, for some time in February, and I'm just doing some initial leg work. I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. Ours was nice, except for Annalise's earache, which contributed to not much sleep for our family all weekend.
Mike and I are going to A Christmas Carol at the Guthrie with our college alumni association on Saturday afternoon. I'm thinking that will get me in the Christmas spirit- then we'll get the tree, haul out the decorations, and finish up with Christmas shopping. Even though I've lost almost 20 pounds since September 6th, I am thinking about starting some Christmas cookie baking. I always think of Aunt Jan's green marshmallow/corn flake wreaths at Christmastime. Boy, were those good!

Happy Thanksgiving!

We hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are headed to my mom's sister Mary's house north of Eau Claire (New Auburn) for Thursday, and then going down to Mike's family's celebration in SW Minnesota. Mom and Dad have been there all weekend while Dad goes deer hunting with Daryl. Bridget and Steve and Maren will be there too!

I am thankful for all of you, even though we don't see each other as often as in the past.

First Parent/Teacher Conference A Success!

As we were driving to the Parent/Teacher Conference last night, Tyler said, "Mom, if Mrs. Cooper says I have been a bad boy, will we go to the water park next week or not?" I had to ask, "Why do you think Mrs. Cooper is going to say you were bad?" His response, "Well, mom, I am bad sometimes and good sometimes!" Ahhhhhh... It turned out, he's actually "good" 95% of the time...tee hee - so after the P/T Conf, on our way home, Tyler said, "I guess we get to go to the water park next week, eh mom?" He's my genius! :)

One Smart Cookie!

Since Bridget isn't posting on here yet, I'll announce some news for her! Bridget, Steve, and Maren are moving back to Minnesota this summer! Bridget will be receiving her PhD in Neuroscience this winter/spring, and has accepted a post doc position at the University of Minnesota.

Take care everyone.

Ahhh...the Memories!

I have been trying to upload photos from all of my CD's onto our computer. I came across these two photos from the night we went out to the Cardinal Bowl in Thorp after the visitation at the funeral home for Uncle Dewey. They're kind of dark, and I am a retard with respect to editing things, so you'll have to survive! :)

All else is normal here. We have our first parent/teacher conference this coming Tuesday. Should be interesting. Someone (Tyler) has learned some new words riding the bus and has come up with a slight "attitude" at times. That has been very frustrating for me. He seems to think that he makes the rules and doesn't EVER listen to me. Oh well. He'll learn quickly when Santa Claus forgets to stop here, now won't he! :) His tooth is coming in very well, by the way.

Nothing new with Sami or Keith. They just plod on. I am so extremely busy at work, there are days I feel like I am suffocating! But what can you do? I have had to cover for a woman who is on vacation for three weeks, and she is in charge of scheduling all of the legal events for our employees...so, needless to say, I have been doing the litigation stuff (i.e. scheduling close to 10 depositions a week, plus testimony, guardianship evals., etc.). It has been a zoo. I haven't even done any of my own Immigration work, which is sad, because I have at least 3 petitions to file and have approvals for from the Immigration Service by February, and it takes the darn gov't AT LEAST 3 months to process the darn things! Unless, of course, you cough up $1,000 per petition. Then it takes them 15 calendar days! Gotta love our Gov't!! :) Anyway...why I'm talking about work crap is beyond me. Maybe because I can't get it out of my darn head!!

Planning a Scheibe Thanksgiving on Thursday, 11/22 at 11:00 a.m. at my house, for anyone interested in showing up!! We'd be glad to see anyone! And as you can tell by the photos above, beer and pizza are usually a staple!

And Katie, some day we will have to discuss our sons' surgeries! Tyler's was maybe a little more painful! They had to enlargen the opening to his penis as it was only the size of a pinhead and should have been more the size of a pea?? The best damn surgery we've ever had! He can actually pee in 5 seconds now, rather than taking a full minute to empty his bladder, and he can just about pee ANYWHERE! On that note...

Take care all! Talk to you soon!

Love you all.

Hello Everyone

Hello
Just a note to let you know I can finally get on this thing again. My sign in wouldn't work and had to try and figure it all out again.

Hope all is well with young Bennett. I am sure Allie can relate with Tyler's problem a while ago.

I am doing fine. Allie, Tyler, Sami and I went up nort to Eric and Gwen's cottage yesterday to test him. Gwen had fun wrestling with the kids and getting tied up by Tyler, but Eric had his parenting skills tested by him too and like the rest of us, finally gave in, in the end. Now, Tyler and Dylan both know not to test their Uncle Eric. Also got to listen to Sami howl for an hour on the way home. I think that happened the last time too.

Just wondering if Mike's got that house sold yet? Haven't heard from him lately. I agree with Allie, we need to get everyone together once, even if it is only for a day. I think the kids would have a blast. Much like we did when we all got together as kids. Still love Uncle Don sleeping with the bow on his head.

Well, gotta watch the Pack this afternoon take on KC. My friends are at the game and I am babysitting the dog. Hope they win another one. Don't feel too lucky today, but plan on joining the girls for Bingo too. Gives me something to do. Our volleyball team plays Wed. nights and we have made Allie play for us this year, with the babies and surgery, we have been short handed. She isn't really that bad. Now, if we could get her to hit the ball forward rather than straight up in the air.

Talked to Janet the other day. (We play Bingo together every week.) She said she talked to Aunt AR. Hope the Hatfield's and McCoy's get their land dispute solved soon so she can sell the Florida place. Tell Jane to pack a piece. She may be safer that way.

Talk to you all again soon, now that I have a password that actually works.

Bennett's Big Day

Please pray for Bennett on Friday. He undergoes surgery for undescended testicles at 10:15 a.m. He'll be home in a few hours after surgery, but it will be done under general anesthesia. He should be all recovered in about a week. I'll keep you posted.

Baby of the Family Turns 63!

Happy Birthday Dad and Grandpa!

Lost: Tooth, white in color, enamel, slightly bloody

Well, just an update on Tyler's tooth. He lost it! Monday night. He asked Keith to pull it out, so he did! Yuck. The tooth fairy came...brought a few quarters and a note! I had to somehow instill the fear of God in him to brush his teeth every night, so how better to do this than through a note from the Tooth Fairy! tee hee - Keith thought I was retarded for writing a note! ppppbbbbbbllllllllllll....sorry...a little spit on the screen! :) My husband rocks. He's the funniest guy...makes me laugh all the time. His kids are as goofy as he is!

So, when are we going to get together for a good old fashioned Jacques/Scheibe Christmas???? I'm up for it!

Otherwise, nothing else new! Just me...and my goofy family, hanging out doing NOTHING!

Love to you all!

3 years of hard work- finally paying off!

Annalise was stocking the fridge a few weekends ago, when Mike's electrician cousins came to help wire the basement.

Leigh- how are you recovering? I guess you must be doing pretty well if you can have Allie's lasagna!

Tyler's First Loose Tooth - Easily Mom's Demise!

Well, I am not sure what nauseates me more...the smell of a really bad fart or looking at Tyler's bottom front tooth as it is merely hanging by a thread, perpendicular to his gumline!?!? I learned over the weekend that Dad will have to deal with loose teeth, I will deal with loose bowels! EGADS! Leigh practically stuck her head in Tyler's mouth tonite to check it out! She said there is definitely another tooth coming in behind this one that is hanging by the thread.

Leigh was over for supper tonite. We had lasagna. She never makes it at home for herself. We have her for supper at least once a month or so. At least, we try! My kids always try to one-up each other while Aunt Leigh is here (or any other family member for that matter!), so after a few hours, we have to kick her out so that our kids wind down before bed time! They love it when she comes over!

Well, hope all is well with everyone else. FYI, the Countryfest lineup keeps getting better and better, so if anyone else wants to join the Scheibe family for 5 days of fun & drunkenness, please feel free and let us know!

Love to you all,
Allie & family

Wow!

I was so excited to see new posts on the blog, after I finally got my computer up and running again. Mike forgot to tell me that he unplugged my cable modem in order to plug in his radio while working on our basement remodel!! aahrrhhgghgh!

Now the next thing you old farts have to learn is how to post pictures. When you're writing a post, just click the little button that looks like a picture (three from the right), and upload your photo.

I didn't realize that you were a fisherwoman Allie! Mike and I both got our licenses this summer, but it is so hard to fish, unless we can get someone to watch the kids. We should get Samantha and Annalise together in their plastic princess dress up shoes. It is amazing how she knew how to walk in them instantly- pretty impressive!

Hello All!

First, I have to say that I have been crying since I logged on and saw the note at the bottom of the page, "In loving memory of Art, Aggie, Jan & Duane". You are so wonderful, Katie, to have thought of this. I can't tell you enough how super this is and I am so glad you took on this project. You are a blogging Goddess! I miss all of you guys so much and wish we could get together as often as we did when we were kids! I can't walk through Wildwood Park with my kids without thinking of Grandpa Art driving us through and how we would always stick our arms out of the car to grab the leaves as we drove by the trees! How funny!

As for my family, Tyler turned 5 in May and just started Kindergarten. He is loving it. He has a temper like his aunt Leigh, but we love him all the same. He loves to swim and run around the back yard. He especially loves to fish (as Mike can attest to that - check out Jocko's blog at http://www.wsaw.com/ and then view the Brag Board!). We go to the Wein cottage (on Spirit Lake near Rib Lake - an hour away) a lot during the summer and fish as often as we can. Tyler caught a sunfish this summer, and we have not ever seen one on Spirit Lake as long as I have been going there, so it was great! Even Leigh fished with us one weekend and she caught a 15 inch bass. It was cool. Anyway, Samantha just turned 3 on 9/10/07 and is attending the daycare at the Clinic/Hospital. She will move into the Preschool wing within the next 6 months. She is our "big girl". She can now reach the handle to the screen door by using her tip toes to get into the house. That was a real feat for her and was accomplished on her 3rd birthday, so she thinks she is great now! And she walks around in those goofy plastic "princess" dress up shoes and looks like she's going to break an ankle. It's so darn cute! As for Keith, he has been a salesperson for Marshfield Book & Stationery now for 3 years, even though he's been there for a total of 22 yrs. He covers the Northwest quarter of the State - and he even sees Leigh's ex-husband every now & then. Her ex is still a dork (Leigh paid me to say that!). I have been working at the Clinic now for 8 years, and as of October 2006, I am the Immigration Specialist. I help all of our foreign staff obtain their work authorization and visas. It's been fun meeting and getting to know so many different people from all over the World. I'm still part of the Legal Dept., which keeps growing in leaps and bounds. We have 10 attorneys altogether and are in the process of hiring one more! It's crazy! And as for fun things to do...Keith is getting into gear for the hunting season. Bow hunting (deer) started last weekend, and he gun hunts too. And of course, we both FISH! We even took a day off this summer, sans the kids, and went up to the cottage for a day to fish - just the two of us, like old times. Needless to say, we caught NOTHING!!! And we really did fish! It was pathetic!

I just want to say that I hope we can all get together soon! I would even be willing to host a get-together at Christmas, like old times! What do you all say? BYOB! I love you all! Thank you again, Katie, for coming up with such a wonderful idea! You are the best stay-at-home mom I know, and I do really know a lot!

Hello Family

Ok, I am finally on. It took me all day to figure it out, but now I am here. I'm old, we don't use the computer well like you young whipper snappers.

Jamie will be glad to know that we (Leigh, Scott & Barb and Steve) took Spike (Andy) out the Gianaselli's for his 17th birthday tonight. I hope that sits well for the evening, as I haven't had good food for a few days. Don't worry, I'll make it up to you and we can go do mexican some night.

I think this is great. Neat way to chat with the whole group and keep tabs on what's up.

If you haven't heard, I had a little unexpected surgery on last Sat. morning. Am home now and will be resting and catching up on the Young and the Restless. Like Allie put it, I have now joined the c-section club, except my scar line goes the wrong way. She has also told me that my house is starting to smell like the funeral home with all the flowers. Man, I can't win.

Mike Jacko, I am upset that the one night I actually stayed awake to watch the news, you weren't on. I was going to brag you up to the nurses. How have you been and has that Madison house sold yet?

Katie, you suck. Being a stay at home mom must be a blast. Sure wish I could stay home.

Well, I should go for now. I will check on the latest gossip again soon.

Leigh

Katie, this is such a great idea!! Hopefully more of our family joins! I explained what blogging is all about to my dad, so hopefully he gets on here.
I was looking at your family blog and your children are adorable!! I hope we can all get together soon. It's been so long since we've all seen each other. I would love to plan a family reunion for this next summer. Maybe around Dairyfest??
I am in my third year of college, it's going by way too fast. I did two years of elementary education at Fox Valley Tech and UW Stevens Point. I decided that it wasn't really for me so I'm going to do Nursing, however there is quite a wait list at the technical college. So in the meantime I am doing Phlebotomy. I really enjoy it, so far! I live in Stevens Point with 4 other girls and it's a blast, but at the same time I am so homesick. Marshfield is only 40 miles away, but I just miss my family so much! And my boyfriend, Jeff. We've been dating for 2 years now. He farms with his brother on their family farm and just bought a house himself, so that's been exciting. Remodeling is so much fun, yet alot of work!
Steven graduated this past year and is taking the year off to work and save money. He plans to go on to school for construction. Andrew is a junior in High School this year and plans to join the Marines, but I pray he changes his mind. My mom is still in the Birth Center at St. Josephs and loves it. And my dad is still at Automated Products.
Again, this is such a great idea. I hope to hear from everyone else! Take care! :)

Here we go!

I'll be the first to post to our new family blog. I've been blogging for about two years, and have found that it's been a great way to keep in touch with family and friends, from near and far. My family's blog is located at: www.frofamilyblog.blogspot.com. Here's an update on the Frodermanns: Mike is still working in commercial finance, and has been playing fastpitch softball with as many teams as will take him on as a teammate. One of his teams was in the championship game at the NAFA World Series in Des Moines, and received second place in the tournament overall. I am a full time mom for the time being, having last worked as a physician assistant in neurosurgery before having Annalise in April 2004. I had to take the board exam about two weeks ago (PAs need to recertify every 6 years), so I was busy this summer with a review course in Chicago, and a horrific Labor Day weekend of solitary confinement (my exam was on September 5th). The reason I say I'm a stay at home mom for the time being, is that the review course got me back in the mode, and I might explore at least some part time work. But I'm having way too much fun watching my babies bloom to go back full time right now.

Annalise is almost 3 1/2, and she started preschool this month. She goes to Little Flowers Montessori, and it is looking to be a perfect fit for her. We are so happy with how much she loves school. Bennett is 18 months, and his most recent accomplishment of note is WALKING! He is a pretty sturdy pedestrian, but he'd better be after stressing Mommy out for so long as an advanced crawler. Now he needs to get his vocabulary revved up!

Well, that's it for now. I'm anxious to hear how all of you are doing, and to see pictures of your little ones, or cabins/dogs/birthday cakes, whatever you want to show off! I'm fairly confident I don't have everyone's email addresses, so please forward any missing addresses to me. Thanks!
