Remodeling Fun!

I thought I should get a new post on here, so everyone can get their minds off of the previous topic. Mike and I have been busy with the basement! On Wednesday we got the bar area tiled, and are finally getting around to the grouting tonight, once the kids are asleep. We ordered some tin ceiling panels from Canada to use for our backsplash, and our soapstone countertop and sink were installed last week. Carpet comes on Tuesday. Now we just have to decide on furniture. That is really hard for me, because I know since our space is small we can't let our couch, etc. overwhelm it. But it is hard to picture until it is actually there (and it's too late).

Mom and Dad are at Bridget and Steve's this weekend to babysit Maren while they go to the Gophers/Badgers hockey games. I think they are doing some readying of their house to put it up for sale, as Bridget just called to ask is we could bring some grout along next time we come to Madison. That might be soon- our family is going to Kalahari at the Dells next Sunday-Tuesday, and then Mike might drop me off at Bridget's for the week. My Christmas gift to them was labor on their house, so I'm ready for them to put me to work!

Tom and I are now on the blog! On our first day of retirement no blood has been drawn but that is only because I have wonderful self-control. Unless something REALLY special happens,so far the high light of the day has been me being a sheep and Tom a king for a reenactment of the "Night Jeses was Born." Annalise needs to be told of chocolate and valentine's day so she can move on. We will write more. I wonder if jail cells have gone wireless? Barb

Doing What We Do Best - Now That the Holidays are Over!

Happy New Year everyone! We hope you all had a blessed Christmas and happy New Year! We had our Scheibe family xmas this past weekend and had a wonderful time. Jay and his family stayed at our house both Friday and Saturday nights, but all the festivities were at Dad's. He and Gloria hosted a wonderful gathering both days. Lots of food and fun! The kids had so much fun on Saturday, that they only first asked to open up presents around 6:30 p.m., and we had been there since noon! It was great! On Sunday, we had a sit down meal with the entire gang. The only person not there was Gwen, unfortunately (oh, and Jamie's boyfriend, Jeff, had to attend his family's xmas in Eau Claire too). It was an excellent meal, and we thank Dad and Gloria for wanting to host this year. Cuz guess what?!?! They can host every year as far as I am concerned! Boy, what a load off! I'll tell you...I had so much fun this time! It's so much different when you don't have to cook and clean all weekend long! I really enjoyed myself, and I know the kids did too! They love getting together with their cousins.
The pics above are of the kids doing what they do best. Sitting on the pot doing some light reading and running around the house half naked pretending they are super heroes. Nothing dull around here. Other than that, there is nothing else really new around here. Just glad to have taken down the xmas tree and been able to clean up a little. I wasn't in the mood for xmas much this year. Not sure why.
Anyway...wishing you all a happy and healthy 2008! Love to you all!

Jingle Bells

We had such a fun Christmas. Annalise learned to sing Rudolph, Jingle Bells, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, and Frosty the Snowman. Here is a sampling of her vocal magic. We took the tree down last night, and now have a pretty wide open social calendar for awhile. We're looking forward to going to Kalahari Resort at the Dells in early February with 2 other families. The only other thing of note is Dad's retirement on January 14th. Maybe he'll start blogging in his free time?
